PS5 Pro and PS6 may use an advanced processor powered by artificial intelligence technologies

ps5 pro or next gen playstation 6 custom ai processor may power predictive assistance tech

Sony has registered a new patent related to PlayStation hardware technologies - and this time it will most likely be used and applied to future PS5 Pro or PS6 devices. What could it add to the gaming experience? Below we will inform you of all the details.

Sony has filed an interesting patent bearing the number (US20230405461), which indicates that it relies on artificial intelligence technology in order to operate the upcoming PlayStation devices. This patent is for predictive player-directed assistance, as it is supposed to take advantage of machine intelligence to study the playing patterns and behavior of the player and then guide him in a way that helps him.

For example, if a player is trying to beat a certain boss in a game but repeatedly fails, the patented technology will give the user an on-screen hint on how to defeat the enemy.

Sony already has something somewhat similar to this with the PS5's Game Help feature, but the new patent will give the player a series of Wiki-style fixed tips and tricks. Sony's patent will be more dynamic, intelligent and highly conditional.

Are PS5 Pro or PS6 very smart?

In one embodiment, the patent would collect telemetry data for a player based on how they play, and use that data to create a profile of the player's characteristics. This profile model can be analyzed by a special AI processor that will be built into upcoming devices.

It's also worth noting that cloud servers are referenced several times in the patent, so the AI processing may not be dedicated, hardware-based chips found in the new PlayStation consoles. Where the patent description says:

“Over time, different types of inputs and game contexts can be classified to build a profile model that describes the game tendencies and potential vulnerabilities of the user. “Using the profile model, during the current gameplay, one or more processors, such as an AI processor, can predict where the user intends to navigate or achieve in a given context. “

The description continues by stating that if the user is trying to input a game or set of inputs for a specific context in which the player is weakened, one or more processors can provide assistance to the user in the form of suggestions for the specific context.

The PS6 controller may have a touch screen and display as well

The patent description gets even more interesting, as it is mentioned that the tips and tricks provided by the AI will not only appear on the screen, but can also appear on the face of the controller as well.

The patent indicates that upcoming PlayStation devices will provide controllers with an actual display screen, specifically where the touchpad for the Dualsense arm is currently located. This means that it is possible that this patent is somehow related to previous patents filed by Sony.

The next generation is still at least 4 years away, and the idea of devices containing a display screen is not far away at all. What are your expectations?
